On 12 June 2026, the PLIADES consortium held an internal technical webinar dedicated to the Vocabulary Hub and Semantic Treehouse, focusing on their role in enabling data interoperability across the project.
The webinar, led by TNO and presented by Wouter van den Berg, was organised following technical discussions within the consortium. Its main objective was to explain key aspects of the Vocabulary Hub, clarify how it supports semantic interoperability in PLIADES and address questions from technical partners.
A central message of the session was that knowing that a dataset exists is not enough. To make data truly reusable, partners need to understand what the dataset contains, what its fields mean, which specifications it follows and how it can be transformed to fit different systems. In this context, the Vocabulary Hub acts as a governed home for shared semantic specifications, dataset profiles and alignment resources.
During the webinar, participants explored the PLIADES architecture context, the different data interoperability aspects and the interaction between dataset catalogues, profile catalogues and alignment catalogues. The session also introduced Semantic Treehouse as the platform behind the PLIADES Vocabulary Hub, supporting the publication of common data models and mappings, collaborative maintenance and validation.
The webinar highlighted how catalogue entries can declare conformance to profiles in the Vocabulary Hub, enabling more precise data search and discovery. This is an important step for PLIADES as the project advances its work on secure, interoperable and reusable data spaces across mobility, energy, industry, healthcare and Green Deal use cases.
By strengthening the semantic layer of the project, the Vocabulary Hub contributes to the broader PLIADES vision of improving data sharing, integration and reuse across domains.
The recorded webinar is available on the PLIADES YouTube channel.
